DWF has acquired insurance management business ‘Triton out of administration, bringing 215 extra staff into its UK operation.
Formed in 2013, Triton works with insurers to manage their claims across the UK and globally. It has operations in Sydney, Chicago and Toronto, plus six offices in the UK.
DWF managing partner and CEO Andrew Leaitherland declined to comment on how much DWF spent on the acquisition.
One of Triton’s major clients includes Lloyd’s of London. A statement by DWF suggested the firm hopes to capitalise on the relationship in terms of providing Lloyd’s with legal advice.
The acquisition sees 215 staff join DWF. All UK employees will be moved into their local DWF offices with overseas staff remaining in their positions.
As part of the acquisition of Triton from the company’s administrators at FRP advisory, DWF has also acquired technology business 3Sixty, a specialist software consultancy, which delivers technical services to companies in sectors including insurance.
Leaitherland told The Lawyer the deal was a “strategic fit” for DWF in terms of “providing an eye on the insurance world to our clients”. He added the firm was also “building a very capable claims handling business”, which capitalises on Triton’s services.
He added: “On the technology side, our own software business 15squared will be combined with Triton’s technology business 3Sixty which we think is a great solution for the market as it doubles the amount of products that we have available for our clients.”
