Eversheds has been awarded the mandate of litigation adviser to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in a contract that will last around six months.
The contract is worth around £64,000 to the firm and was agreed in October. Eversheds was brought onboard to support the SFO in an active investigation into a former listed company, The Lawyer understands.
The company was put on trial in December, and Eversheds will be in charge of providing litigation support for the remainder of the proceedings.
Eversheds is one of the most prolific UK law firms when it comes to winning panel spots. Research by The Lawyer Market Intelligence (LMI) in 2016 showed it topped the panel rankings in Q1, Q2 and Q3 last year.
This week marked a major moment for Eversheds, which on Wednesday (1 February) merged with Atlanta-founded firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan to create a £600m law firm.
One of the first big changes post-merger comes in the form of a new partner bonus structure that rewards partners at the two firms for their integration efforts in the years following the tie-up.
