Gillian Thomas, senior staff attorney at the ACLU Women’s Rights Clinic, talked about her recently published book “Because of Sex: One Law, Ten Cases, and Fifty Years That Changed American Women’s Lives at Work,” which tells the story of how Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act–which made it illegal to discriminate “because of sex”–changed the American workplace. Nancy Gertner, a former federal judge and a senior lecturer of law at Harvard Law School, joined the author to offer commentary. The event was sponsored by the Harvard Law School Library as part of their ongoing faculty book talk series.
