Kaye Scholer City managing partner Philip Perrotta has exited the firm for K&L Gates with a team of lawyers including partner Sidanth Rajagopal and a group of associates.
Their departure comes as Kaye Scholer combines with fellow US heavyweight Arnold & Porter to create a $1bn firm with over 1,000 lawyers worldwide. The merger went live at the start of this year.
Both Perotta and Rajagopal joined Kaye Scholer in 2014 from Clyde & Co. Perrotta was a partner at Clydes for eight years, while Rajagopal rejoined the firm as a partner in 2013 from Clasis Law.
At Kaye Scoler, Perrotta led the firm’s London office and co-headed its aviation finance practice.
According to The Lawyer’s research carried out last September, K&L Gates has one of the greatest churn rates in the City and is also one of the most likely to lose partners to US outfits.
It lost a total of seven partners between the start of 2015 and September 2016, but also hired Mayer Brown partner Mayank Gupta and Shearman & Sterling partner Barry Cosgrave.
