On May 16, 2014, Stanford Law School hosted the inaugural Prosecutorial Discretion Symposium.

Part of the symposium included a debate titled “Good People Should Not Be Prosecutors.” The debate was moderated by Loyola Law School Professor Laurie Levenson and featured Georgetown Law Professor Paul D. Butler, Executive Director and Attorney-in-Chief of New York Federal Defenders, David Patton, Stanford Law Professor Lawrence C. Marshall and United States Attorney for the Southern District of California Laura E. Duffy.
