Crystal Mason is a U.S. citizen, mother of three, and caretaker to four other children. She is a U.S. citizen, mother of three, and caretaker to four other children. In 2016, Crystal filled out a provisional ballot in the presidential election. She had no idea that Texas considered her ineligible to vote while on federal supervised release.

She was under supervised release after serving time for tax fraud in 2011. She had never been told that she wasn’t allowed to vote while on release. Now, the state has sentenced her to prison for five years — unless she wins her appeal. Crystal’s provisional ballot was never counted. Texas chose to charge Crystal with illegal voting – a felony — anyway. In a one day trial, a judge found her guilty. Because of the conviction, she lost her job, her family’s health insurance, and her home faces foreclosure.

Public support can make the difference for Crystal. Demand justice.
