2019 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, the highly influential school of art and design in Germany. In this video, curators at the Harvard Art Museums highlight the legacy of the Bauhaus at Harvard Law School. In 1948, HLS commissioned Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius to design a student center and dormitories. The project included site specific works of art by several Bauhaus and modernist artists.
The Harvard Art Museums hold the largest collection of Bauhaus works outside of Germany. Their exhibit, The Bauhaus and Harvard, runs from February 8—July 28, 2019.
